Typing tests - learn typing using regular and timed typing tests

Typing Test Information

While learning with our typing software, you will be offered the choice of doing typing tests when you complete the relevant typing lesson successfully. You may also choose to do a typing test at any other time by clicking on the typing test button in the Typing Tutor main menu. It is recommended that you only take a typing test when you are competent in the related keyboarding lesson.

There are five typing tests for you to learn to type fast. However, the free typing tests and customised tests are designed specifically to be used in a classroom environment and should only be used in that way. The fifth typing test, dictation, can only be accessed when you have reached typing lesson 14 of our typing software.

In every typing test of our typing software there is a maximum number of mistakes you can make before the typing test terminates. In such cases, your Interactive teacher at Touch Typing Now will recommend that you repeat the relevant lesson of typing.

A green tick will appear in the typing lesson selection menu by the appropriate typing lesson number after the associated typing test has been successfully completed.

Here are the different types of typing tests available:

Typing Tests - Regular

Keyboarding Typing Test for accuracy only. There is no time limit in which to complete this typing test.

Typing Tests - Timed

Tests for typing speed and accuracy. You can choose from three time limits:

Slow 80 seconds

Medium 60 seconds

Fast 40 second

Custom typing tests - Typing Teachers only

This typing test is for use in a classroom environment only.

Choosing this typing test in the typing software will take you to the Custom Typing Tests Management menu , where you will find typing tests that have been specifically created for you by your classroom teacher. Click on the typing tests you want to take and click on the ok button. The typing test will then begin.

Your classroom typing tutor will set the number of mistakes allowed in each custom test.

Free typing tests

These typing tests are for use in a classroom environment only

Your classroom typing tutorin our typing software will give you text from an external source (e.g. typed page, book, magazine etc.) for you to type. When you have finished touch typing you should print the typing test by clicking on the print button and then hand the results to your teacher, if required.

The printed typing tests will automatically include your user name and your typing speed.

Typing Tests - Dictation

These typing tests can be accessed at our typing software once you have reached lesson 14. It offers a choice of five different dictation exercises; select one by clicking on it. Your Interactive typing teacher will then dictate it so that you can practice your audio while you learn to type. You must try to learn typing what you hear her say. If you forget what your Interactive touch typing teacher has said, wait and she will repeat the last sentence.

There is no limit to the number of mistakes allowed in these typing tests.
